The community living environment for Indigenous families and Elders will be located on Martel Street in the Loretteville district of Québec City, close to the community of Wendake.

This mixed-use project will welcome families and Elders from several Indigenous communities in Quebec and will meet the community, family, cultural and professional needs of First Nations members wishing to settle in an urban area.

More than housing: a culturally adapted living environment

This community living environment for families and Elders has been designed to meet the needs for safe and, above all, affordable housing of Indigenous people wishing to settle in an urban area.

In addition to its 30 unfurnished apartments, this new development will feature modern communal spaces conducive to multi-generational gatherings. Located near the magnificent Kabir Kouba Falls, the Saint-Charles River linear trail and a pharmacy, it provides practical and easily accessible housing that is also close to nature.

An unusual projet

Inspired by the first community living environments for Indigenous students, the SIRCAAQ’s development project in Loretteville is intended as a new and affordable housing solution for First Nations members settling in an urban environment for better access to medical, professional and other services.

This new living environment will enable Indigenous people moving to Québec City to benefit from a stable, culturally safe and culturally adapted environment where mutual aid and sharing will define the rhythm of tenants’ lives.
